Wines that combine freshness and finesse. Tasting a bottle of Vinsobres is raising your glass to astonishing discoveries, to be captivated by unexpected sensations and at the end of the exploration, to offer your taste buds an unlikely trip!

Typicity

Wines that combine freshness and finesse

Wines from Vinsobres, only red wines, are characterized by their freshness and delicate tannin. Made mainly from Grenache and Syrah, the wines benefit from an excellent balance between tannins, acidity, spices and red fruits aromas. The palate is balanced, some fatness and roundness coat the tannins and contribute to a feeling of volume and generosity.
This is the specificity of great red wines with aging capacities. “Patience” is the key word to appreciate the quintessence of these wines at their optimum maturity, which can easily be kept for more than 10 years.

Fruity and tasty wines

Vinsobres wines fully express their identity with their aromatic complexity and delicacy. These well-balanced and fruity wines are characterized by a ripe and spicy nose, with finely melted tannins. The fresh and digest finish reinforces the generosity and the "pleasure" of the wines. These wines generally age in concrete vats, revealing intensity and good length of the fruit on the palate, but also its balance.

Powerful and structured wines

Vinsobres wines have a good aptitude for aging especially when matured in oak barrels, tuns or demi-muids. All along the aging process, these wines become more refined. They generally combine concentration, balance and finesse. Colorful, well-structured and with a long finish, they offer a rich aromatic bouquet with fine and spicy aromas.

Grapes

raisin vinsobres cépage

With its unique location in the north of the southern Rhône Valley and its high altitude terroir, the Vinsobres terroir is particularly suitable for Syrah, which retains a finesse partly lost in southern climates.

Perfect for producing great ageing wines, Syrah has found in Vinsobres a good aromatic expression that will sublimate the other grape varieties of the Côtes du Rhône.

When blended with Grenache and Mourvèdre, they produce strongly coloured red wines, fruity and spicy, powerful and structured, with a lot of freshness.

Grenache

Grenache, emblematic varietal in the Rhône Valley, represents more than 70% of the plantations in Vinsobres. It has a seductively warm and smooth character. Known for its perpendicular growth and strong shoots, it produces intense, full-bodied wines with spicy aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant. Its tannins soften out with age and the aromatic profile evolves towards deliciously fruity aromas complemented by the aromas of the surrounding scrubland, spice and fragrant pepper.

Syrah

The Syrah vines thrive in the slightly cooler parcels. This rarer, low yielding varietal has a spicy character with delectable notes of violet, which are also detectable in the wines it produces: strongly coloured and aromatic with high alcohol levels and a delicate yet well-structured palate. After a few years in the bottle, its characteristic nose of violet evolves towards more complex notes of musk, truffle, leather, pepper and liquorice.

Mourvèdre

Mourvèdre, long-considered as a blending varietal, is now widely grown on the warm hillsides in the South. It produces robust, full-bodied, tannic, strongly coloured and very elegant wines with powerful structure. They disclose notes of pepper and black fruits combined with a touch of scrubland and bay leaf. After around 5 years in the bottle they begin to reveal notes of truffle, leather and jammy fruits as well as attractive gamey and spicy notes.

The wines are made from the following grape varieties:
› main variety: Grenache
› complementary varieties: Mourvèdre and Syrah

Secondary varieties: Bouboulenc, Brun argenté, Carignan, Cinsault, Clairette, Clairette rose, Counoise, Grenache blanc, Grenache gris G, Marsanne, Muscardin, Piquepoul blanc, Piquepoul noir, Rousanne, Terret noir, Ugni blanc, Viogner.
